You’ve completed Level 1: Calming the Mind and learned to recognize awareness through the support of sound, the body, and emotions, while also resting in open awareness.

Now we build on that foundation by exploring how love and compassion can deepen our connection with ourselves and others. These qualities are already present within us—through meditation, we learn to recognize and nurture them.
We use meditation as a way to connect with our innate well-being, as well as the inherent qualities of awareness, love, compassion, and wisdom. By approaching our experience with warmth and care, we create the conditions for greater resilience, deeper connection, and more meaningful relationships.
Join the six‑month Level 2 Cohort and take the next step on your journey of Opening the Heart. Weekly live sessions, peer circles, and mentor guidance will help you cultivate the love and compassion that are already yours.

Why Level 2—and why a cohort?

Over the next six months you’ll move through four practical courses—Love, Compassion, Joy, Transformation & Equanimity—together with a group of fellow practitioners and Tergar guides. Weekly live sessions, discussion circles, and mentor support keep you accountable and inspired while you:

  • Turn loneliness into connection. Discover how the same presence that soothed your mind also softens the walls around the heart.
  • Recognize basic goodness in everyone. Meditation reveals the caring nature already inside you—and in others.
  • Transform challenges into empathy. Difficult emotions become bridges, not barriers, to deeper relationships.

Ready to embark on a transformative journey with a supportive community?

The Joy of Living is not about trying to be someone you’re not. It’s about learning to meet your thoughts and emotions with gentleness and awareness. With guidance, meditation becomes a natural and supportive part of daily life. It’s your normal life — but better.

What Makes the Cohort Unique?

A New Approach

This cohort introduces an educational paradigm different from the self-paced Joy of Living Online, offering a more dynamic and interactive way to engage with the teachings.

Step-by-Step Learning

Each 75-minute session focuses on one section of the program, giving you the opportunity to ask questions, gain insights, and build confidence in your meditation practice.

Supportive Community

Practicing together fosters accountability, encouragement, and inspiration. As Mingyur Rinpoche shares in this video, community is like a hard drive to the teachings. Practicing in a community strengthens our commitment and deepens our understanding.

Frequently Asked Questions

When do the live sessions start?

The Cohort live sessions begin on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 12 p.m. ET. Weekly sessions follow every Saturday. However, you can join earlier and get started right away with the self-paced lessons with Mingyur Rinpoche.

Do I need any prior experience with meditation?

No prior experience is necessary. The program is designed to guide beginners step-by-step, while also offering depth for those with previous meditation practice.

What are the weekly live sessions like?

Each week, you’ll join a live, 75-minute interactive session led by Tergar guides. These sessions are designed to help you apply and deepen your understanding of the teachings. During each session, you’ll:

  • Explore the week’s theme in depth
  • Participate in group discussions and reflection
  • Ask questions and receive real-time guidance
  • Learn how to bring the teachings into your daily life

What if I can’t attend the live sessions?

Recordings of all live sessions will be available, so you can catch up at your convenience. This ensures you won’t miss any part of the program.

What should I expect to do between live sessions?

Engage the teachings and community beyond just showing up on Saturdays. Between sessions, you’ll be invited to:

  • Study: Watch pre-recorded video teachings from Mingyur Rinpoche at your own pace
  • Practice: Apply the techniques daily using guided meditations provided in the course
  • Engage: Stay connected with your fellow participants via a dedicated WhatsApp group, where you can ask questions, share reflections, and stay inspired

This structure helps build consistency, accountability, and depth — the key ingredients for lasting transformation.

What is included in the program?

The Joy of Living Level 1 Live Cohort program includes:

  • Weekly live interactive sessions: Engage with Tergar experts and your Cohort community in 75-minutes sessions every Saturday. These sessions feature interactive activities, in-depth exploration of the program, and Q&A opportunities to address your questions and deepen your understanding.

Why This Program?

This cohort is designed to help you make meditation a part of your daily life, ensuring real progress and transformation.

If you’ve struggled with consistency in the past, this program provides structure, accountability, and community — essential ingredients for turning meditation into a lasting habit.

While occasional guided meditations bring relief in difficult moments, real transformation comes from following a path. This structured journey helps you move beyond “once in a while” to a steady, integrated practice that brings long-term change.

What happens after the 6-month program ends?

After completing the 6-month program, you’ll have the option to:

  • Continue your practice at your own pace using the Joy of Living online platform, where you can revisit guided meditations, video lessons, and other resources.
  • Join the next Cohort for Joy of Living Level 3, which will begin after this program, to deepen your practice and explore the next level of teachings with a supportive community.

Will Mingyur Rinpoche be leading the sessions?

His teachings are shared via recorded videos. The live sessions are guided by experienced Tergar teachers.

Will this overlap with my current Joy of Living program?

No. This cohort complements what you’ve already studied and adds a supportive live structure to deepen your practice.
