In level 2, the main practice is what we sometimes call the “four immeasurables”: immeasurable love, compassion, joy, and equanimity. For each of these, but especially for the first three, we have to practice the five steps of meditation step by step. When I bring awareness to the basic wish to be happy I see that it comes an internal desire to be happy and not suffer and I am able to observe it. I like using analytical meditation when I have a conundrum that is disturbing me iI use it look at what is troubling me and what is underneath it and it allows me to relax instead of condemning myself or judging myself harshly. I have noticed my insights. That is how when I have a strong emotion, I can notice what underlies it, the wish to be happy and have the causes of happiness and I feel myself breath and relax. I am having this feeling and can"t stop it.
